Pursuant to Section 12 of P.L. 1962, c. 73 (C. 12:7-34.47) the revenue derived from fee increases was directed into the Maritime Industry Fund I BOAT NJ line item, managed by the New Jersey Department of Transportation/Office of Maritime Resources (NJDOT/OMR). Throughout New Jersey's 130 miles of coastline, 1,792 miles of shoreline, and plentiful inland waterways, lakes, and bays, there are numerous opportunities suitable for enhancement with Maritime Industry Funds. The opportunities can be translated into projects ideal in purpose and objective to fulfill the goal of the dedication of boater registration fees.
The I BOAT NJ Program seeks to benefit the boating public by promoting, improving and enhancing the marine industry in New Jersey through grant funding financed by the FY 2003 vessel registration fee increase.
I BOAT NJ projects must be beneficial to the general boating public and must be directed at planning, developing, constructing, improving, advocating, or otherwise assisting the boating and marine trade industry in New Jersey.
Grant funding will be awarded based upon the number of qualified applicants and the amount of funds available in a given fiscal year.
