Community Sailing

Hi Damien,
This is Charles Muntean, Fred mentioned my name as being one of the community sailors doing the races on Sundays.
As far as the boats are concerned, we try to stick with the same boat for the season, that way, as Fred mentioned, it is easier for the race committee to keep track of who's who.
When you reserve your boat, they do not always take it out for you, so you can reserve any number the first time. Once you are familiar with a boat, stay with it and use that number for your reservation.
Although we have a decent number of sailors in our fleet, not every one comes to the races and any new boat is welcome.

Thanks Fred. Seeing how there are apparently 9 sunfish available for community sailors I don't think the numbering will be a problem

There is no need to officially register for the series; you can just show up and sail. But do let the race committee know who you are and what sail number you have. I have not raced community sailing boats - check with some of the sunfish sailors that use community sailing boats (Charles, Marcie, Tony) about how they are deailing with sail numbers week to week.

More full rigs for the lasers would be nice. I have a spare sail but only have one lower section. A radial fleet is also possible. If there multiple community sailors all sailing radials they will be equal. I am not sure about separate radial prizes.

As a community sailing member, I have some interest in participating in the Sunday races. From speaking with others, since the club only has one full rig laser, I would probably have to race in the sunfish fleet, which is not a problem.

So i'm wondering, if i want to participate in the series, Do i have to register for the series or just show up, join in and race along? Also since the races keep a score of the entire series, would i need to be in the same boat, due to sail numbering for the entire series?
