 Maritime Academy Sailing Program
The Maritime Academy Charter School (MACHS) in Philadelphia provides a rigorous academic program with the special theme of maritime studies for students in grades 5 through 12. MACHS has selected Cooper River Yacht Club to provide their students the opportunity to learn how to sail. The students get a rigorous safety-first education and the best sailing instruction from experienced instructors. The school selects approximately 14 students for this after school program every fall and spring. This unique sailing education program uses the Precision 15 foot sailboat with an instructor and two or three students in each boat.  Advanced students are taught in one-person sailboats such as the Optimist, Oppi, or Sunfish.

Fees paid to the Cooper River Yacht Club by MACHS support this program. Similar school sailing programs may be requested by schools and other organizations. The fees vary depending on the length of the program and the size of the class
