Maritime Academy Paddling Program
The Maritime Academy Charter School (MACHS) in Philadelphia provides an academic program with the special theme of maritime studies for students in grades 5 through 12. MACHS has selected Cooper River Yacht Club to provide their students the opportunity to learn how to canoe and kayak. The students get a rigorous safety-first education and the best paddling instruction from experienced instructors. The school selects approximately 12 students for this after school program every fall and spring. This unique boating education program uses two-person canoes and one-person kayaks to teach safety techniques and paddling skills.
Fees paid to the Cooper River Yacht Club by MACHS support this program. Similar school sailing programs may be requested by schools and other organizations. The fees vary depending on the length of the program and the size of the class.
