NOTICE OF RACE

1 RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2021 – 2024 Racing Rules of Sailing, Applicable Class Rules, Sailing Instructions, and the attached waiver and release of liability.

 

2 ENTRY FEE & REGISTRATION

The Regatta entry fee will be $25.00 per Boat. Additional $10.00 if Staying for Dinner.

3 SCHEDULE

No Start After

Refreshments, Beverages and Awards after the conclusion of racing. Join us for Oktoberfest celebration for an additional fee

 

4 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Sailing Instructions will be available on Cooper River Yacht Club’s Website and at Registration prior to the Skippers Meeting

 

5 VENUE

The Waters of Cooper River Lake in Coopper River Park, Between Rt. 130 Bridge and Cuthbert Blvd. Bridge

 

6 THE COURSE

The courses shall be Triangles (T) Windward (W) including offsets and or gates at the discretion of the Race Committee.  The Course board will display the course (T or W) and signal the number of Windward Legs i.e. (W5 Windward-Leeward 5 legs).  All Races will finish to windward.

 

7 SCORING

Low Point Scoring (RRS Appendix A2) will Apply.  The number of scheduled races is 5 of which 1 must be completed to constitute the regatta. There will be no dropped races for scoring purposes.

Should wind, weather, or other conditions make it impossible or impractical to complete all five races within the publicized time, the event will be terminated and the results based upon the completed number of races. 

 

8 RADIO COMMUNICATIONS

A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

 

9 REQUIRED SAFTETY EQUIPMENT

Paddle, 50 ft. line & PFD

8.1 US Competitors shall carry a U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) approved personal floatation device (PFD). Competitors from outside the U.S. shall carry a PFD approved by their nations’ certification authority to the extent permitted by international treaty.

 

10 AWARDS

CRYC Perpetual Trophy - 1st Overall

Finishes First through third will receive trophies for skipper and crew.

 

11 LAUNCHING AND BERTHING

Two chain hoists are available on site, if needed there is a public boat ramp less than half a mile away. Overnight dry-storage is available if needed before or after the event please make prior arrangements. Contact information at bottom of NOR

 

12 SOCIAL:

Breakfast: A continental breakfast will be provided to competitors and crew.

After Racing: Beverages and light repast will be provided on shore to competitors and crew.  Join us for our October Fest celebration immediately after the regatta for an additional fee.

 

13 LODGING   

There are numerous Hotels which are close to the venue and reasonable. 

 

14 HOUSING

Limited housing is available upon request prior to the regatta. Please contact Jon Burnham for housing requests.

16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
