This half-day workshop is designed to provide sailing instructors with the skills needed to effectively teach sailing to youth and adults with learning differences. Cooper River Yacht Club is pleased to offer the opportunity to attend this training to interested instructors from MAYRA-member yacht clubs.
Charlie Arms, the Executive Director of Brendan Sailing, who is also a US Sailing-certified keelboat, powerboat, small boat instructor trainer and international umpire, will present dynamic teaching techniques to enable sailing instructors to better communicate and improve the delivery of their sailing curriculum. Attendees will learn how to incorporate multiple pathways to learning in their presentations and find ways to make routine drills seem less routine. This program will encompass classroom presentations, breakout sessions and participation in problem solving and role playing. Participants will receive a certificate of training upon completion.
Since 1985, Brendan Sailing has been providing a foundation for success and building pathways to self-confidence and personal growth in children with learning differences through individually-tailored experiential sailing instruction.
